fairytales 300x213 Once Upon A Time..... Lived Happily Ever After

We've all read the wonderful fairy tales of Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Snow White.  The stories are all basically the same, beautiful princess meets fabulous prince, some trouble goes on, problem solved, and they live happily ever after.  Even in some of the more modern fairy tales like "Shrek", which has a very strong princess and an albeit not so charming "prince", they lived happily ever after just the same.  But what about girls who don't want to get married?  Where do they fit in?  Are we as a society trying to tell our little girls that there is only one way to live happily ever after?

Then along comes "Princess Bubble" to change how we teach our little girls about "Happily Ever After"

Princess Bubble

In this beautiful modern story of a princess, we see a charming young girl learn how she doesn't need to find "Prince Charming" to live Happily Ever After.  Sometimes, being happy is doing what you love not finding who to love.

From the Authors:

"Princess Bubble stars a princess who is confused by the traditional fairy tale messages that say she must find her “prince” before she can live “happily ever after.” Princess Bubble dons her “thinking crown” to research traditional fairy tales, interviews married girlfriends, and even takes counsel from her mother, who advises her to sign up at FindYourPrince.comFindYourPrince.com. With a little help from her fairy godmother (this is still a fairy tale after all), Ms. Bubble discovers that “living happily ever after” is not about finding a prince. “True happiness,” the book reveals, “is found by loving God, being kind to others, and being comfortable with who you are already!”

“We are definitely not anti-Prince,” said Webb. “We just believe that young girls today are bombarded with so much inaccurate advice on how to build their self-esteem—messages that focus on the outside rather than what’s within. We want to change that message. ”

This charming little story is just what the modern mom needs to read to her little girl to balance out what the rest of the fairy tales are saying.  It doesn't make fun of or belittle the princesses that do find true love and get married, it just says that there are other ways to live happily ever after.  Although I don't have a little girl to read this story to, I loved reading it for myself.  If I did have a little girl, it would be one of our favorites though!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a little girl in her life!  Whether she's your daughter, neice or a friends little girl (that's who I'm giving my copy to), it'll be a great book to share!
