Wright On Time Arizona by Lisa M. Cottrell-Bentley
About the Book:
First stop, Arizona! The Wright’s homeschooling RV adventure starts with exploring a desert cave. Nadia can’t wait to find minerals and see rock formations. Aidan wants to see bats. he finds something mysterious buried in the rock – what could it be? What is that glowing thing on the wall? Where are those voices coming from? What do you do with toilet paper in a cave? And just what is a stale egg mite anyway?
My Opinion:
I’m going to admit this right now. I am probably a bit biased about this book because it’s written by and about homeschoolers. But how can I not be biased? There are so few books that even mention homeschooling, let a lone are about homeschoolers. So that makes this book extra special to me. However, if it wasn’t a good book, I’d still have to tell you all honestly that it wasn’t good. Luckily, it’s a great book!
This is a fun book, with lots of interesting facts, lots of learning, and characters that are cute and likable. The youngest child, Aidan, reminds me of my boys when they were his age. He’s hyper, curious, and uses his favorite word, “Freaky” in every way possible! Nadia is the investigating young lady, who reminds me of myself when I was her age. The family is traveling around the country in an RV learning and exploring together. Which is exactly what I always wanted to do with my sons, but we haven’t gotten to do that yet.
The reading level of the book is from 9 – 12, although I think some older children may like it and certainly younger ones will as well. This would be a great book for a homeschool group’s kids book club. Considering that Lisa M. cottrell-Bentley is writing a whole series of these books, it would be a great series to use as a kids book club. I would highly recommend this to all families to read together, even those who don’t homeschool their kids. The homeschooling part of their lives is the reason they are traveling, but the family and situations are easy to relate to even if you’re not a homeschooler. I’ll be recommending this series of books to my homeschool friends for sure!
