Tall, Dark and Wolfish by Lydia Dare
Tall, Dark and Wolfish by Lydia Dare
From The Back of the Book:
The reckless, rakish younger brother of a powerful duke, Lord Benjamin Westfield transforms into a wolf under the light of the full moon—until one fateful evening when he doesn’t change and his life is shattered. Fearing he may never be able to change again, Benjamin sets out for Scotland in search of a witch who can heal his inner beast. The noble werewolf is drawn to the beautiful young woman, but what does he have to offer in this broken state?
About the Book:
Tall, Dark and Wolfish is a romantic novel set in early Scotland long before cars and technology has taken over the world. A young Werewolf, fearing that he can no longer “change” during the full moon, goes out in search of a healer witch. A creature whom he though, ironically enough, was just a myth. Not only does the wolf find a healer, but finds a wife and the love of his life.
My Opinion:
I picked this book up Thursday afternoon and ended up staying up until 3am to finish it. That should tell you how good it is, right there. I literally, couldn’t put this book down, not even to go to sleep! I kept saying to myself that I would just finish this one chapter and go to sleep, but the story just didn’t go into a “lull” where I felt I could put it down. That hasn’t happened since I first read Cheryl Brooks “Cat Star Chronicles”.
The story itself is very simple, boy meets girl, boy gets girl, boy looses girl, lather rinse repeat a few times and everyone is happy in the end. What’s really intriguing are all the details about the story that makes it so great! Here’s a werewolf, who doesn’t believe in witches, who has to go find one to heal himself!
The characters are all very likable, and easy to relate to as well. I especially related with the main female character, Elspeth. Mostly because I’m a witch and I have red hair, and I like to think of myself as a healer. So right there, I’m totally tied into the book! You’ll also find yourself falling for Ben, the main male character, who is a beast in every sense of the word. The love scenes between the two of them are amazingly hot as well!
I highly recommend this book to anyone, of mature age, who loves a little magic with their romance! This is the 2nd book in a series of books by Lydia Dare. The next one comes out in June, with two more coming next year. If you liked Terry Spear’s Legend of the White Wolf or Cheryl Brooks Cat Star Chronicles, then you’ll LOVE Lydia Dare’s Tall, Dark & Wolfish.
