About the Book:

Secrets is a book all about a young girls journey, told to her diary.  This is about a young girl who is going through a lot of changes in her life and how they affect her.  First she moves to a new town, far away from all the friends she has known, including one of her first crushes.  Then her mom has a baby that she's not really sure she is going to like.   Through the entire book this young teenaged girl tells her diary all of her secrets, how she feels about different boys, her new friends, her old friends, and all of her family.  You get a peek into what a 13-14 year old girl is thinking and feeling.

My Opinion:

This book took me back to when I was that age.  I too kept a diary of all my thoughts and feelings... I even wrote poetry in my diary too.  It's fun to go back to read those old diary entries and think about how I felt back then.  Reading this book is like doing that.  So many of the things that this young girl goes through, I went through at around the same age, so it really brought out some old feelings.  I'm sure just about every woman would be able to relate to this book... and most young girls as well.

I would highly recommend this book to any mom and daughter to read, separately or together.  I think it would be a great conversation starter for moms and daughters.  One of the nice things about this book, is it also has a bunch of book club questions in the back.  So if you have a group of young girls, that would like to start a book club, this is a great book to start with!  Women between the ages of 11 - 91 will enjoy reading this book... I know I did!
