There’s also an entire chapter to help dads or father figures understand the vital role they play in their daughter’ lives. About the Book:
This is a book written as a guide to parents, guardians, and leaders within a community to help young girls learn their value and worth. It is a guide to give adults the lessons, stories and steps to make a young girls transition into womanhood, not only special, but to give her an advantage of knowing how the adults around her feel about her. Written by Pam Farrel, a relationship specialist, and Doreen Hanna the founder and president of Treasured Celebrations Ministries, this book is a great gift to all young women in our community. Whether you have girls in your family, or would like to start a mentoring program for young girls, this is an excellent guide for helping young girls find self worth and self confidence.
My Opinion:
Although I am not a Christian, I have been pleased to be able to review some absolutely wonderful Christian books. I believe that most religions are basically wonderful guides to living a positive life, which is why I love reading so many of these great Christian books. This particular one is definitely a must read for any family that has a young girl in their midst. It’s made me decide to find and buy Raising a Modern-Day Knight.
Although rooted in biblical scriptures and proverbs, the lessons and guides for raising your daughters with self confidence and self worth, goes beyond religion. The basic premise of the book is to tell your daughters they are worthy of love and honor. Part of the book gives examples from many different cultures and religions of rites of passages for young girls, and then takes those examples to create rites of passages for young girls in today’s society. There are many wonderful ideas that range in the very simple and intimate celebrations for just the family, to large celebrations for more than one girl! If I had a daughter, I would definitely be doing any one of these things for her!
I recommend this book for everyone! Whether you have a daughter, niece, grand-daughter in your family, or you want to give something special to the young women in your church, religious organization or community. This is an excellent book to help you give the young girls in your life a wonderful start to honoring themselves and finding their value!
