Holly's Inbox: Scandal in the City by Holly Denham

Back of the Book:

O ffice rivalries, rumors, and scandals have never been so hilariously entertaining-or so addicting Things are finally looking up for Holly. With her love life, career, and family all on the right path, Holly is looking forward to the next chapter in her life when a sudden rampage of gossip sweeps the city and threatens to destroy Holly's hard-earned happiness. Told entirely through emails, readers can catch a glimpse into the daily digital drama that is Holly Denham's life. Join Holly and her outrageous cast of family and friends as they navigate the ups and downs of living in a city where your world can be turned upside down faster than you can say "You've got mail!"

My Opinion:

My very first though about this book was that it was very hard to read.  It's completely written in email format, to and from Holly, the main character.  This means it is entirely dialogue, with no action at all, and you have to guess at emotions behind the emails.  I would have put it down and never picked it back up again if I didn't need to read at least half of the book to do a review.  That's really great, because if I had put it down, and not given it a chance, I would have missed a pretty good story!

This is a very cute story about a young woman who seems to get everything she wants, and then loses it all.  Of course it has a happy ending, or else I wouldn't like it, but I won't tell you what that happy ending is, because you don't really see it coming!   The characters are all very cute and you get to know them pretty well within all the emails.  It's very much like getting to know people online.

I do recommend this cute and fun book to anyone.  You might feel like you should put it down because it's a little difficult to read through the emails, but pretty soon you get over that and start enjoying the story and the characters.  It's well worth the effort!
