Teen Thursday

As my boys got older, it got a little harder for me to find books that were just right for them.  One, being boys, there's really not a lot of books out there for them... at least not as teenagers.  Most of the books that are for teenagers are for teen girls... romance,  main character is a girl, and girly plots.   Not really what teen boys want to read.  So when I come across some good books for my boys, I nearly shove them down their throats.  LOL!  Well not literally.  So here are a few of those books that I have given to my sons to read and some that are good for girls too.

Cassel was born into a family of Curse Workers, but he has no working ability. What he does have is a horrible half memory of killing his best friend, the girl he was in love with. This is Tomasa's story of how her family survives the Guatemalan army's "scorched earth" campaign, and how their love, loyalty to each other and Papa's storytelling keep them going on their harrowing search for refuge in the United States.
